God of War: Ragnarok
God of War 2018 was the reason I bought a PS4. I hadn't played a single God of War game up to that point, but I knew that it would be a must play. Kratos's journey from the God of War to a father figure was an incredible dynamic and felt gradual and earned across the story. God of War Ragnarok picks up with Daddy Kratos dealing with an Adolescent Atreaus. Kratos killed Zeus, and yet parenting Atreaus is his biggest battle yet. This kid is rambunctious, foolhardy, and self-righteous, and it is up to Kratos, a man who shows little emotion, to tame and guide his son on the right path.
The theme of this game is "trust". Who is worth trusting, and who is not. What is the difference between someone being redeemable and irredeemable. Are only those who we know redeemable, or are those who even would go so far as to kill you still worth trying to help? Many people follow the ideology that "Once bad, always bad" as this is often how it appears. One mistake can cause anyone to go down a rabbit hole of self pity, self hatred, and cause an unending streak of apathy.
But we are not who we were. We are who we are now. And what we choose to do during any given moment is what truly defines us.
Do you know the things I've done?
Yes! But what will you do now?
